Allentown, Pa. (June 8, 2020) – Communities In Schools of the Lehigh Valley is pivoting services to help kids and families when they need it most. We’re pleased to announce the launch of CIS On the Go!, a comprehensive digital platform that allows our team to connect students and families to food and basic needs in a safe and efficient way.
“Our mission of surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life has never been more critical than right now,” said Timothy Mulligan, President and CEO of CIS Lehigh Valley. “We’re so grateful to be able to go beyond the school walls and connect our students and families with what they need, right now.”
CIS On the Go! is a natural outgrowth of our evidence-based model of student support. It provides a safety net service to equitably serve our families as they face the layered challenges of the pandemic today.
Local businesses and individual supporters are welcome to use the platform to make cash donations and connect with us to identify new ways to lean in. A generous sponsorship from BSI Corporate Benefits has already increased our capacity to serve more students through CIS On the Go!.
“Vulnerable students and families across the greater Lehigh Valley need safe access to basic needs essentials now more than ever,” said Val Lewis, Vice President of Employee & Community Engagement at BSI Corporate Benefits LLC. “BSI’s support of CIS On the Go! is our way of providing local families and their students food, hygiene items, school supplies and much more. We are truly honored to partner with CIS and support them in their efforts with this fantastic initiative.”
In its first two weeks after launch, CIS On the Go has connected over 30 families to nearly $1,300 in basic needs essentials. CIS Coordinators will continue to utilize CIS On the Go through the summer and into the 2020-2021 school year.
